Privacy policy

1. Who we are

CarBible.app is run by Transmission RWA Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 16964879, The Old Mistal, Outlane, Huddersfield HD3 3FQ. We are the controller of the personal data described here. For anything about your data, email info@transmissionrwa.com.

2. What we collect

• Your account: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google or another provider, plus sign-in records such as when you last signed in.
• Your purchases: what you bought, the amount, the date, and the registrations you unlocked. Card payments are handled by Stripe — we never see or store your card number.
• The cars you look up:the registrations you search, and the vehicle data we fetch for your reports (DVLA details, MOT history, specification, valuation and, for Premium, the stolen, finance and write-off check). This data is about the vehicle; it doesn't include the names or addresses of its keepers.
• Messages: anything you send us by email.
• Technical data: your IP address and browser details, which our hosting and security providers log to keep the site running and safe.

3. How we use it, and why we're allowed to

• To provide your account and the reports you buy — necessary for our contract with you.
• To keep records of sales for tax and accounting — a legal obligation.
• To prevent fraud and misuse, keep the site secure, fix problems, and research a fault dossier when a car you've paid for isn't covered yet — our legitimate interests in running a safe, working service.

We don't sell your data, use it for advertising, or make automated decisions about you.

4. Who we share it with

We use these service providers, who process data for us under contract:

• Clerk — accounts and sign-in
• Stripe — payments
• Vercel — website hosting
• Neon — our database, hosted in London
• Resend — sending email

To build a report we send the car's registration (and, for valuations, its mileage) to our vehicle data providers: the DVLA, the DVSA, Check Car Details and One Auto. We search eBay for live parts prices using the part and model only. We may also share data where the law requires it.

Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States. Where data leaves the UK, it is protected by the UK's adequacy regulations for the US or by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

5. How long we keep it

• Report vehicle data: deleted automatically once the report's 30-day access ends.
• Purchase records: 6 years, as required for tax.
• Your account: until you ask us to delete it.
• Emails: as long as needed to deal with your query.

6. Cookies

We only use cookies and storage that the site needs to work: Clerk's cookies to keep you signed in, Stripe's cookies to prevent payment fraud, and your browser's storage to remember your light or dark theme. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, so there's nothing to opt in to.

7. Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to have it sent to you in a portable format. Email info@transmissionrwa.comand we'll reply within one month. Some data, like purchase records, we must keep for the law even if you ask us to delete it.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
